Pulling her socks on more slowly than usual, Jasmin was cautiously getting ready to begin her journey as a Pokemon trainer.
In only one half hour, it would her turn to finally have her very own pokemon. Which one would she choose...? Professor Oak had a large variety of starting pokemon for new trainers, each with different abilities and charm; but which would be the best fit for Jasmin, future Pokemon Master?
As far as her favorite type of Pokemon...Well, she liked all of them. The agility and possibilites of flying pokemon...the beauty and skill of fire and water pokemon...the cute yet creepy feeling Jasmin got whenever she looked at bug pokemon....
Then there were the psychic and ghost type pokemon, whose abilities seemed unbelievably superior to those of other pokemon. Electric pokemon...A jolt of energy that screams 'I'm ready for battle!'
So many pokemon...And Jasmin was determined to master them all!
So bright and cheery, the sun reflected Jasmin's mood as she left her small house in Pallet town, strolling peacefully to the Pokemon Lab, where Professor Oak would present all of the available pokemon.
Suddenly, with no warning, an alarm was sounding throughout the town. "What's wrong?!" Jasmin screamed to passer-by, but no one would answer; they were too busy running, clutching onto their pokemon.
"Attention, citizens of Pallet! " came a voice over the loud speaker. "We have pokemon theives lurking in our midst. They go by the name of 'Team Shark'. If you have any information, please report to the police immediatey."
Scared and not wanting to get involved in any trouble, Jasmin rushed to the Pokemon Lab, where she saw Professor Oak running around frantically.
"Jasmin! You're here! All the other pokemon trainers took their new pokemon and left when Team Shark came!"
"What? Team Shark was here??"
"Yes." Professor Oak nodded solemnly. "I'm afraid so. They took all of the leftover pokemon, except one...I guess they thought this one wasn't worth taking...It goes by the name of Pichu.
Pichu, a tiny, yellow and black pokemon with the most adorable red cheeks, peaked out of a corner. He looked curious, but nervous; Team Shark's arrival had probably shocked the poor little pokemon.
"Jasmin...I'm sorry to ask you this, but can you take Pichu and track down Team Shark? They shouldn't be far from here, they probably haven't even made it to Viridian City yet!"
"Oh! Okay." Jasmin glanced sweetly over to little Pichu, who ran behind a desk. "Aw...It's okay, Pichu. You can come on out. I won't hurt you. We have to defend Pallet!"
"Pi..." Came a sound from behind the desk.
Professor Oak bent down and picked up Pichu, handing the little creature to Jasmin.
She smiled at Pichu, trying to let it know that she meant no harm.
Pichu's eyes narrowed. His red cheeks glowed. "Huh? What's going on?" asked Jasmin. BZZZT!
"AHHHHHHH!" Jasmin screamed. "He shocked me!"
"Uh...yes, this Pichu does tend to do that...Now go distra--I mean, beat Team Shark while the police try to retreive the stolen pokemon."
As Jasmin began to run to the doors, Pichu jumped out of her rooms and ran back to Professor Oak.
"Oh come on! Don't be scared!" He said, ushering Pichu forward.
With a sad look on its face, Pichu followed Jasmin outside.
The alarms seemed to alarm Pichu, but Jasmin didn't dare pick it up again.
Pichu ran bravely ahead of Jasmin, in a manner as if it was following Team Shark's scent.
Out of the city Jasmin and Pichu ran, following Pichu's instinct.
Pichu looked left and right, and decided to turn left.
It was hard to navigate in this wood; Jasmin hoped they'd be able to find their way back.
At the end of Pichu's trail, he began to nibble on the ground. Confused, Jasmin looked closer.
"A berry! You ran all the way out here, with me followign you, so you could eat a berry! We're supposed to be finding Team Shark! Come on Pichu, won't you cooperate?"
"Chu..." mumbled Pichu, whacking Jasmin with its tail.
"Hey!"
"Chu!" Pichu averted its eyes from the berry to an opening between some trees. In a second, Jasmin heard voices from the area....
"Aiden! Pick up all the pokeballs, quick! Your stupid motorcycle getaway plan failed!"
Peeking quietly through the trees, Jasmin and Pichu saw one boy, one girl, one crashed motorcycle and about 100 pokeballs scattered on the ground. The girl had long red hair and the boy had long (for a boy), black hair. They were frantically running around, trying to gather all the pokeballs before the police came...
"Team Shark! In the name of Pallet town I command you to drop all pokeballs!"
"Huh?" Said the female, whipping her head about for the source of the voice.
"Over here." Said Jasmin bravely, stepping out of the trees with Pichu by her side.
"Pichu, thundershock!" She yelled triumphantly.
Pichu, however, had found another berry.
"Hahahaha, look at that Tabitha." Aiden, the boy, was saying to the girl member of Team Shark. "The little runt can't even control her worthless Pichu, and she thinks she can beat us. The unstoppable, forever powerful, Team Shark!"
"If we were so unstoppable we would've thought of a better plan than a getaway motorcycle with a bag full of pokeballs tied to it! Just destroy that Pichu! Go, Geodude!"
A tiny rock pokemon with strong-looking arms flew out of Tabitha's pokeball.
Pichu didn't feel like battling, but Geodude converged, knocking Pichu off its feet!
"Hey, don't touch Pichu!" Jasmin ran over to Geodude, swatting it away.
"You're not allowed to attack pokemon! Get off of my Geodude!" Yelled Tabitha, throwing a stick at Jasmin.
Caught off guard and not able to dodge the stick, Jasmin fell.
Geodude was now relentlessly attacking poor little Pichu. Jasmin jumped on top of Pichu, covering it from harm so Geodude could not hurt it.
"Pichu.." mumbled Pichu. It was very injured indeed. It looked up at Jasmin with a look that she translated as "thank you".
"Pichu..." Jasmin whispered. "I'm going to run around collecting the pokeballs. You do your best to dodge Geodude, okay? On the count of 1, 2...3!" Jumping up Jasmin gave Geodude one last push and ran around the ground, picking up pokeballs. She was soon fighting Tabitha and Aiden over the pokeballs they had alraedy picked up.
Pichu was making an effort to dodge Geodude and was doing a pretty good job of it.
Getting tired of being chased, Pichu jumped in the air and let out a shock that shook the surrounding trees. Jasmin, ready, had dropped to the ground to prepare for the shock. Tabitha and Aiden, however, were knocked out.
WEEEEEOOO WEEEEEEOOO! came the sound of sirens as dozens of policewomen on motorcycles pulled up to the scene, Professor Oak seated on the back seat of one of them.
"Oh dear! Jasmin, what's this? You defeated these villains with...Pichu? That pokemon?"
"Yeah! What's so hard to believe about that? Pichu did all the hard work, anyway." Jasmin winked at Pichu, who stood by her side happily.
"Well, he sure looks happy to be with you. Maybe you should take Pichu as your first pokemon." Professor Oak offered as the policewomen were gathering up Team Shark and putting the pokeballs into a large box to be transported back to the Pokemon Lab.
"Not so fast..." Mumbled Aiden. "Go, Koffing!"
A floating, purple ball of a pokemon appeared. The policewomen prepared for battle, but in an instant, there was a cloud of smoke surrounding them and nobody could see anything.
When the smoke cleared, Team Shark had disappeared into the depths of the forest...The would be in Viridian City and out of sight in no time.
"At least we have all the pokemon, safe and sound!" Said Jasmin reassuringly.
"Yes, I suppose you're right." Said one of the policewomen. "You and your Pichu work well together!"
"Pi! Pichu!" said Pichu happily.
After spending the night in the Viridian City Pokemon Center, Jasmin and her faithful Pichu marched side by side into the Viridian Forest, where new adventures lay undiscovered.
